In a double deal which was agreed at the start of the New Year, but put on hold because of the Coronavirus pandemic, pan Humber firm Scotts Property has merged the long established Grimsby based estate agents Canters into its business and, at the same time, has acquired Chisholm and Co, residential letting and managing agents.

Canters partner James Chisholm said “Canters has been in Grimsby since the 1940s and we have a proud heritage. As far as our clients and customers are concerned, nothing is changing. We're still keeping the name, our distinctive branding and our great customer service but by being part of a larger organisation we will have the support of a great team with superb administrative skills which means we can grow the business to achieve even more sales.”

Managing Partner at Scotts, Lawrence Brown said “Scotts has an unrivalled reputation across the Humber region for providing common sense practical advice regarding commercial property. Over recent years we've increasingly been called on to assist clients with their residential property holdings but have never had a clear outlet for doing so. These opportunities have come along at just the right time.”

Mr Brown confirmed that the intention is to rebrand the Chisholm and Company business as Canters Lettings and Management but that Andrew Chisholm will still be a face in the office, whilst he operates under a consultancy position.

He continued “We're still keeping the separate brands for which we're known. Scotts will advise on commercial property and more corporate consultancy whilst Canters will deal with face to face enquiries for housing – whether it's to buy or to rent.”

As part of the deal James Chisholm becomes a Partner in the new firm, joining Lawrence Brown, Tim Powell and Ed Chisholm.
