The Sandringham has been a quirky feature of Hull’s city centre for decades
Considered a friendly haven in Hull’s city centre, customers of The Sandringham pub have welcomed the slimline sanctuary of this traditional boozer for years.
Now, Hull’s narrowest blink-and-you’ll miss it public house is on the market. Sandwiched between buildings – a fried chicken shop and an amusement arcade – in Paragon Street, The Sandringham – which remains open for now, between Wednesday and Saturday – was recently recommended on TripAdvisor as an “excellent one bar, one room old fashioned pub”.
The reviewer said: “Not the biggest pub in the world and perhaps the smallest in Hull, which is part of the attraction. Excellent ales, and a good 70s juke box.
“Spent many a pleasant hour in here before going to football on a Saturday, bit quiet midweek days but lively on a weekend night time. Friendly locals too. Love it.”
The Sandringham was also the subject of a recent visit by Hull Live, with reporter James Campbell admiring its “old boozer gloominess” and enjoying the “chilled atmosphere” as he kicked back in one of its cubbyholes for an hour. He said: “Many businesses have struggled following the Covid pandemic and now the cost of living crisis and pubs are some of the hardest hit.
“I have great admiration for the resilience of this little pub and I just hope it survives. In a strange way the limits of its size maybe what has saved this pub from the fate of many others. I’ll happily raise a glass to many more years for the Sandringham.”
However, only a few short weeks later, The Sandringham is up for sale with Scotts Property with an asking price of £200,000. The agent said: “The property presents as a traditional public house with the ground floor providing an open bar, newly fitted with traditional finishes creating an attractive trading area.”

The subject of a programme of renovations, The Sandringham has a cellar beneath the majority of the bar area and a barrel drop to Paragon Street. There are two more floors above the public bar, providing a lounge, kitchen and bathroom on the first level and two bedrooms on the second.
